Highs and Lows ~ Sugar and Life

Yesterday was a great day ~ yeah, we still woke up and had diabetes ~ but I managed to get almost everything 'normal' into our day. The spring sun shined down on us and we got to play at the park with all our friends after soon. We brought our popcicles without sugar, some dairy free and egg free rice cakes for Carter and...well I had a HUGE diet vanilla coke from Sonic. ( this is turning into my coping device ! )

I am so amazed at how much diabetes seems to surround us ~ really. Who apparently doesn't know someone with Type 1 ? No one. Popular Science had an amazing article this month about how close we are to a cure for this disease ~ many friends sent it to me. My neighbor brought us a great book that is so full of information that I can use that I stayed up way late reading it and feeling smarty pants. Lastly, I got a wonderful email from a college sorority sister from Baylor who has a child with type 1 and they are coming here soon ~ and Lindsey will get to meet another child her age, a girl, who has exactly what she does ~ THANKFULLY. Oh, almost forgot ~ we got a care package from Aunt Mickey ( diabetic ) who passed on tons of test strips and such to us from her overstock. She has a pump now ~ and believe me ~ this is appreciated ~ those test strips....are about a buck a piece ~ um, we use a minimum of 4 a day...adds up ! So ~ awesome ~ thank you thank you thank you.

I'm off to clean up the house ~ I see daffodils in my yard blooming and Lindsey skipped into preschool today ~ this makes for a good 'high' of life.
