So many days I think of the quote from Robert Frost that says :
In three words I can sum up everything I've learned about life: it goes on
So true. I opened a new bottle of our daily insulin last week ~ they last 30 days. We have filled up a sharps container that takes 200 sharps. Lindsey is gaining weight and her hair is full and needs a ponytail holder again. She is our sweet ~ still read headed ~ 5 year old daughter. She's playing on the playground, staying with friends and wearing her new bracelet with pride. I think Brett and I are comforted by seeing her progress as the lantus still stings like a big bear ~ grrr. We have ice packs ready and snack waiting and then you know what....life goes on.
I'm looking at the calendar this morning and realize EASTER is Sunday...whoah. That snuck up on me this year ~ but that means that I dug the Easter baskets out and made a date to dye eggs with other friends children. I can do the candy issue over the holiday ~ Carter hasn't eaten a stinking piece of chocolate ever...we will find what works for us. I remember my first Easter with kids with food allergies ~ I was totally perplexed how to dye eggs when Carter went into shock touching eggs ~ we decorated plastic eggs with stickers that year. Now we just don't let him touch the egg with anything but the wire deal and all is well. I'm sure we will feel the same about Diabetic Easter ~ all no big deal once you think about it and move on.
Life does go on and I'm grateful ~ I attached a few pictures of our hospital visit just one month ago ~ LIVE GOES ON. I know we have come so so far and that our future plans of summer swimming, Carters 8th birthday, suntans, family reunions, fireworks, parades, mosquito bites, and normal really amazing life are to come. I really couldn't ask for more !
